Sean Jefferson made it all the way from regional to national finals in the Early Career Geologist Award, hosted by the Geological Society, at the home of geology in Burlington House, Piccadilly, London. Sean’s fantastic presentation was on developing low cost/high value investigation solutions, particularly when dealing with technically challenging, one off, privately owned sites. His example was a replacement house on a formerly quarried site, handily located over the former quarry edge! With a clever mix of investigating techniques, Sean conceived a range of foundation solutions, without bankrupting the project. An excellent presentation, and as noted by the judges, the future of geo-science is in safe hands! Well done Sean.
