Interpretative Ground Investigation

We pride ourselves on our detailed desk studies and site reconnaissance, which we use to inform our interpretive ground investigations.

Desk studies include the following:

  • geological, historical and topographical maps
  • a detailed site walkover
  • examination and assessment of:
    • previous ground investigations, underground features and services
    • past mining incidences
    • likely contaminants.

Our in depth ground investigations are designed to include sufficient sampling and testing to inform the design of foundations, earthwork specification, soakaway construction, slope stabilisation, protection against groundwater and chemical or gas contamination etc. A comprehensive report is then produced, providing specific engineering recommendations.

Projects we have worked on recently range from one-off, short-term investigations for small school extensions, to major investigations such as for the proposed second Cheddar Reservoir.
